The Jabs School of Business recently hosted a conversation about racial experiences featuring five CBU faculty members who, in the words of Dean Andrea Scott, “love Jesus and long to see the Church look and live like brothers and sisters…we should be leading the way and modeling with grace the celebration and dignity of every person created in the image of God.”

The conversation was hosted as a response to the racial tumult of recent weeks. When the event was announced on Instagram, students were asked the question, “What do you want to hear discussed?” and many submitted responses. The panelists took turns sharing their first experiences with racism, then thoughtfully gave answers to students’ questions.

Change happens when we listen to each other. It begins with us. We cannot develop empathy for our hurting brothers and sisters if we never create space to share our grief. It is hard work yet is it necessary in order to put legs on our love.

Thank you, panelists Ted MurcrayNoemi Hernández Alexander, Ph.DKenya Davis-Hayes and Nolan Gouveia, MBA. Our prayer is that this is the start of something that continues.

Next Steps

Please join us in learning more about racism, reconciliation and what we as followers of Jesus can do to work towards racial reconciliation and social justice. Below are a few of the resources mentioned during the event to help us all learn more.
